Partner Michael P. Canty has been named by the Daily Journal to its list of Leading Commercial Litigators for 2026. This list honors attorneys who have achieved outcomes that positively impact their clients, their industries, and the law itself. As he shared with the Daily Journal, “It’s rewarding work when your main charge is to seek justice.”
Among his considerable achievements, Michael co-led the team that secured a historic jury verdict against Meta Platforms, Inc. in Frasco v. Flo Health Inc., which found the company liable for the unauthorized collection and use of sensitive personal health data through the Flo Health app. This not only marked a watershed moment in the fight for digital accountability, standing as one of the first cases where a jury has held a major technology company accountable for its handling of consumer health information, but also sent an important message about safeguarding individual rights in the digital age.
Michael has also obtained remarkable results on behalf of institutional investors including a $100 million settlement in In re PG&E Corporation Securities Litigation (pending final court approval). The suit comes from claims that PG&E made materially false and misleading statements and omissions about its safety and compliance practices in the leadup to the devastating wildfires that ravaged Northern California in 2017 and 2018. This landmark settlement reached after seven years of litigation underscores Michael’s unwavering commitment to seeking justice for investors.
“I love what I do,” Michael states, “It’s a wonderful career.”
