We are pleased to present Labaton Keller Sucharow’s 2025 Year in Review, highlighting another year of remarkable achievements and meaningful work on behalf of our clients. Throughout 2025, we remained at the forefront of innovation in the legal industry, championing the rights of investors and consumers, strengthening our global platform, and delivering exceptional results for our clients. The accomplishments outlined in the report reflect a firm that is prepared to lead, ready to take cases to trial, and focused on delivering results that matter—principles that have guided our Firm since its founding more than 60 years ago.
We began the year grieving the loss of our late Chairman and friend, Christopher J. Keller, a titan of the plaintiffs’ bar who played an instrumental role in guiding the Firm through periods of monumental growth, helping build Labaton into the global institution it is today, and whose vision and integrity has left a lasting mark on us all. After his passing, Eric J. Belfi was elected as Chairman, marking a pivotal chapter for our Firm. Since becoming Chairman, Eric has led the Firm through landmark successes, advancing our mission of delivering exceptional results and client service, and honoring Christopher’s legacy as a “source of strength” for the Firm as we remain “guided by our legacy and driven by results” and “steadfast in our commitment to accountability and investor and consumer protection.”
We continued to achieve landmark results across our industry-leading practice areas. Throughout 2025, Labaton reached major settlements in high-profile securities litigation cases against Fidelity National Information Services, Inc. ($210 million, pending final court approval), PG&E Corporation ($100 million, pending final court approval), Catalent, Inc. ($78 million, pending final court approval), Oak Street Health, Inc. ($60 million), and Okta, inc. ($60 million), among others.
Notable achievements in corporate governance and shareholder rights include significant settlements in cases involving Walmart Inc. ($123 million), Pattern Energy Group Inc. ($100 million), and Covetrus, Inc. ($70 million, pending court approval), among others.
In addition, our precedent setting Alternative Dispute Resolution Practice continued to bring substantial recoveries to individual consumers, reaching $400 million in settlements, 2 million individual clients, 3 million claims brought, and more than 125 cases launched since the establishment of the practice in 2020.
Notably, in August 2025, our Consumer Protection and Data Privacy Litigation Practice secured a landmark jury verdict in a landmark data privacy action against Meta Platforms, Inc. arising from Meta’s knowing collection and exploitation of sensitive health data from users of the Flo Health app in violation of California privacy laws—one of the most closely watched consumer privacy cases in the country. In a defining moment underscoring Labaton’s commitment to safeguarding individual rights, the jury found Meta liable for the unauthorized collection and commercial use of sensitive consumer data through the Flo Health app—one of the first instances in which a jury has held a major technology company accountable for its handling of consumer health information.
We are proud to continue to be recognized for setting new standards in the legal industry. Over the past year, the Firm was honored as a Securities Group of the Year by Law360 and was recognized as a Top Plaintiff Firm by Benchmark Litigation, a Top Tier Firm by The Legal 500, and as one of the leading plaintiffs’ firms in the nation by Chambers USA, among other accolades. In addition, 25 Labaton attorneys were individually recognized for their outstanding professional achievements.
At The American Lawyer’s 2025 Industry Awards, Labaton was awarded Best Use of Technology in recognition of the Firm’s cutting-edge approach to developing and leveraging robust technology to elevate the client experience and raise the bar on industry standards. Our cutting-edge securities portfolio monitoring system PAIGE, our innovative ADR client onboarding platform Lantern by Labaton, and our specialized client portal Client Connect, are state-of-the-art, proprietary technological tools that have not only enhance our practice, but have redefined what’s possible in the legal field.
