Partner Carol C. Villegas was named to Forbes’ inaugural 2026 “America’s Top Women Lawyers” list, which honors the nation’s trailblazing women attorneys who are breaking barriers in the legal profession, earning the trust of clients, the respect of their peers, and a reputation for excellence in their fields.
Among her many accomplishments over the past year, Carol co-led the team that secured a historic jury verdict against Meta Platforms in Frasco v. Flo Health Inc., which found the company liable for the unauthorized collection and use of sensitive personal health data through the Flo Health app. The verdict marked a watershed moment in the fight for digital accountability, standing among the first jury decisions to hold a major technology company responsible for its handling of consumer health information. The outcome not only established an important precedent for privacy litigation but also reinforced the critical importance of safeguarding individual rights in the digital age.
Carol has also achieved significant results on behalf of institutional investors, including a $78 million settlement in City of Warwick Retirement System v. Catalent, Inc. (pending final court approval). The action alleges that, following a decline in COVID-related business, drug manufacturer Catalent engaged in accounting and channel-stuffing schemes to artificially inflate the company’s revenues. The settlement represents another notable achievement in Carol’s ongoing efforts to hold corporations accountable and recover losses for investors.
