Partner Carol C. Villegas has been recognized once again by Benchmark Litigation as one of the “Top 250 Women in Litigation” in its 2026 guide.
As noted by Benchmark Litigation, those selected have played instrumental roles in some of the “most impactful litigation matters in recent history,” earning them the “hard-won” respect of their peers and clients and establishing their reputations as leaders in their field.
Over the past year, Carol has continued to achieve significant results on behalf of investors and consumers. Carol co-led the trial team that secured a historic jury verdict against Meta Platforms in Frasco v. Flo Health Inc., where the jury found Meta liable for the unauthorized collection and use of sensitive personal health data through the Flo Health app. The verdict marked a watershed moment in the fight for digital accountability, standing among the first jury decisions to hold a major technology company responsible for its handling of consumer health information. The outcome also reinforced the critical importance of safeguarding individual rights in the digital age. On the securities front, she recently secured a $78 million settlement in City of Warwick Retirement System v. Catalent, Inc. The action alleges that, following a decline in COVID-related business, drug manufacturer Catalent engaged in accounting and channel-stuffing schemes to artificially inflate the company’s revenues. The settlement represents another notable achievement in Carol’s ongoing efforts to hold corporations accountable and recover losses on behalf of investors.
As Co-Chair of the Firm’s Consumer Protection and Data Privacy Litigation Practice and a Securities Litigation Team Leader, Carol continues to play a key role in advancing high-impact litigation on behalf of consumers and investors. Her selection to Benchmark Litigation’s “Top 250 Women in Litigation” for the third consecutive year reflects the breadth of her practice and her continued leadership in some of the most consequential areas of complex litigation.
