NEW YORK (March 18, 2015) -- Labaton Sucharow LLP announced today the selection of Firm partner Thomas A. Dubbs as an Adviser to The American Law Institute (ALI), a leading independent organization in the United States producing scholarly work to "clarify, modernize, and otherwise improve the law." The nonprofit institute (comprising 4,000 lawyers, judges, and law professors) drafts, discusses, revises, and publishes Restatements of the Law, model statutes, and principles of law that can have an effect on the courts and legislatures, as well as in legal scholarship and education.

In his advisory role, Tom will provide perspective on ALI's recently launched project titled, "Restatement of the Law Third, Conflict of Laws." Chosen for his particular knowledge and experience on the subject, Tom will work with an assigned reporter on a proposed draft. Once the draft is approved by the ALI membership, a Tentative Draft or a Proposed Final Draft would represent the most current statement of ALI's position on the subject and may be cited in opinions or briefs until the official text is published.
