Christopher J. Keller shares lessons learned as a plaintiffs' lawyer
The National Law Journal named Labaton Sucharow to the 2015 Plaintiffs' Hot List, marking a decade of recognition as a top plaintiffs firm. The Firm was featured for its securities class action litigation work on several cases, including a $265 million all-cash settlement from Massey Energy in connection with one of the largest U.S. coal mine disasters in more than 40 years, as well as a $170 million recovery from Fannie Mae after six years of litigation.
When asked about the important lessons learned as a plaintiffs' lawyer, partner Christopher J. Keller offered:
- File only if you really believe in the case.
- Fraud changes constantly—cases you're litigating now are a snapshot of misconduct years ago. To stay ahead you have to know what corporate America is doing now, and having highly trained investigators and analysts is essential.
