Jay L. Himes to be appointed as the trustee to oversee Bazaarvoice Inc. merger
The U.S. Department of Justice asked a California federal judge on Monday to appoint a Labaton Sucharow attorney as the trustee to oversee Bazaarvoice Inc.’s compliance with a proposed judgment in the DOJ’s antitrust action against the company in the DOJ’s latest merger victory after trial.
In a consent motion to appoint the trustee, the DOJ said the U.S. selected Jay Himes, who is Co-Chair of Labaton Sucharow's Antitrust Practice and, from 2001-08, served as Chief of the Antitrust Bureau of the Office of the Attorney General of the State of New York.
"In that position, [Himes] played a key role in negotiating and enforcing the consent judgment that resolved the state and federal antitrust cases against Microsoft," Monday's motion said. "His experience in enforcing the complex and technical judgment in the Microsoft case makes him particularly well suited to assist the [U.S.] in enforcing the requirements of the [proposed final judgment] relating to syndication and transition services."
