Lawrence A. Sucharow discusses the Firm's newly filed lawsuit against auto airbag maker Takata Corp.

Regarding a defect that most seriously affects people in states with high humidities and temperatures, Labaton Sucharow Chairman Lawrence A. Sucharow discussed the Firm's filing of a claim in the Southern District of Florida, as well as another in California because of stringent consumer protection laws.

The suits seek economic damages, but more importantly, the goal is to get the cars off the road in order to protect drivers and passengers, as well as providing drivers with different transportation options, including leased or rental vehicles, according to Larry.

"Where is corporate America when these things happen? Are they doing the minimum they can possibly do, or are they doing more than that because harm comes from their actions? You don't see corporate America stepping up often, and Takata certainly hasn't," he said.
