Law360 Names Corban Rhodes “Rising Star” in Consumer Protection Law

NEW YORK, July 30, 2018 – Law360 recognizes Corban Rhodes as a Consumer Protection “Rising Star” in its 2018 Rising Star list. The annual award recognizes top legal talent under 40.

Rhodes was selected out of over 1200 submissions and was recognized for his work on the Facebook Biometric Information Privacy, which has been one of the most closely watched consumer privacy cases of recent years as it is one of the first major tests of the scope of Illinois’ Biometric Information Privacy Act.

Corban has been litigating the case for three years, including handling depositions of the majority of the Facebook witnesses of in the case, overseeing expert discovery, and conducting a multi-week on-site forensic review of Facebook’s source code.

The case has already generated some influential decisions that will impact data privacy law for years to come, including the application of the Supreme Court’s Spokeo decision. Corban contributed to the briefing that led to these important decisions, which have already been cited by more than a dozen courts and journals around the country.
