Labaton Sucharow LLP Named to The National Law Journal's Plaintiffs' Hot List for the Fifth Consecutive Year. Firm Secures $1.8 Billion in Class Action Settlements In 2010

For the fifth consecutive year, Labaton Sucharow has once again been recognized as a top plaintiffs’ firm by The National Law Journal. In 2010 alone, the Firm secured more class action settlements than any other law firm - a staggering $1.8 billion worth of them.  Labaton Sucharow was one of a select group of firms profiled nationwide in this year’s ‘Plaintiffs’ Hot List.’ The list recognizes plaintiffs’ firms that have done exemplary, cutting-edge work on the plaintiffs’ side. 

In this year's edition of the 'Hot List,' The National Law Journal focuses on the fallout from the financial system collapse, and highlights Labaton Sucharow’s role in $1 billion in securities fraud settlements involving American International Group Inc. Led by Thomas A. Dubbs, the Firm and Co-Counsel Hahn Loeser & Parks LLP, secured settlements surpassing $1 billion. In re American International Group Inc. Securities Litigation represented the ninth-largest recovery in a securities class action and the largest recovery since the beginning of the financial crisis in September 2008.

In addition to AIG, The National Law Journal featured two of Labaton Sucharow's noteworthy cases including In re Countrywide Financial Corp. Sec. Litig. ($624 million settlement – the second-largest securities settlement of 2010) and Eastwood Enterprises LLC v. Farha (“WellCare”) ($200 million settlement – the fifth-largest securities settlement of 2010).

The 'Hot List' was based on a survey of the litigation scene over the past 12 months. Readers were asked to nominate plaintiffs’ firms with at least one significant win within the last year, as well as an impressive record of victories over the preceding five years.
