Monami Chakrabarti concentrates her practice on prosecuting complex securities fraud cases on behalf of institutional investors.
Prior to joining Labaton Sucharow, Ms. Chakrabarti was a litigation associate at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP, where she practiced general litigation. Ms. Chakrabarti represented clients in connection with all aspects of complex litigation practice, including class action securities litigation. She also assisted with internal investigations on behalf of corporate clients regarding allegations of accounting fraud and the assessment of potential liability in connection with the arrangement and marketing of collateralized debt obligations.
Ms. Chakrabarti was a recipient of the Skadden Pro Bono Publico Award for her representation of survivors of human trafficking and domestic violence, as well as immigrants who faced persecution.
Ms. Chakrabarti received a J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law, where she was an executive editor of the Berkeley Business Law Journal and a recipient of the American Bar Association Legal Opportunity Scholarship. Ms. Chakrabarti earned an M.S. in Management Research from the University of Oxford and a B.S. in Management Science with concentrations in Finance and Economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Ms. Chakrabarti is a member of the New York State Bar Association.
She is fluent in Bengali.
