In re Parcel Tankers Antitrust Litigation

Labaton Sucharow LLP serves as Co-Lead Counsel in this lawsuit filed on behalf of a proposed class of Plaintiffs who purchased parcel tanker shipping services directly from Defendants, the providers of these services.

Plaintiffs allege that, between August 1, 1998 and November 30, 2002, Defendants engaged in a global conspiracy to allocate customers and divide the world market for parcel tanker shipping services. The case is pending before the Honorable Jed S. Rakoff in the Southern District of New York.

Several Defendants have already pled guilty to their role in the conspiracy and one Defendant was accepted into the Department of Justice’s Amnesty Program.

On June 15, 2009, the United States Supreme Court granted certiorari to review a decision by the Second Circuit Court of Appeals, which held that Plaintiffs were permitted to proceed with class-wide arbitration even though Defendants’ contracts were silent on this issue.
