Labaton Sucharow’s Carol Villegas Named to New York Law Journal ’s Top Women in Law 2016 List

NEW YORK (September 16, 2016) – Labaton Sucharow LLP is pleased to congratulate Firm partner Carol C. Villegas in being named to New York Law Journal’s inaugural Top Women in Law 2016 list, which focuses on work over the past year and honors “accomplished female attorneys in the New York legal community who represent excellence in private practice, corporate counsel work, public interest law, legal education, and the judiciary.” The publication also sought women who have made a significant contribution to the law or legal community.

Villegas focuses on prosecuting complex securities fraud cases on behalf of institutional investors. Her skillful handling of discovery work leading a team of attorneys in large-scale efforts, her development of innovative case theories in complex cases, and her adept ability during oral argument, as well as Villegas’ many active roles promoting the professional development of female attorneys through the New York State Bar Association’s Committee for Women in the Law and the Firm’s Women’s Mentoring and Networking Initiative, were a number of examples leading to her selection.

Villegas was one of 30 women chosen for this year’s list of winners. For more information, the full article is available on New York Law Journal's website here.
