Labaton Sucharow Elevates Three Securities Class Action Litigators
NEW YORK (January 5, 2015) – Labaton Sucharow LLP announced today the promotion of attorneys Michael H. Rogers and Nicole M. Zeiss to partner. Additionally, Carol C. Villegas was promoted to of counsel. All promotions are effective January 1, 2015.
- Partner Michael H. Rogers is actively involved in prosecuting In re Goldman Sachs, Inc. Securities Litigation and Arkansas Teacher Retirement System v. State Street Corp. Mike has been a member of the lead or co-lead counsel teams in federal securities class actions against Countrywide Financial Corp. ($624 million settlement), HealthSouth Corporation ($671 million settlement), Mercury Interactive Corp. ($117.5 million settlement), and Computer Sciences Corp. ($97.5 million settlement). Mike was formerly of counsel at the Firm.
- Partner Nicole M. Zeiss leads the Settlement Group at Labaton Sucharow. Her practice includes negotiating and documenting complex class action settlements and obtaining the required court approval of the settlements, notice procedures, and payments of attorneys' fees. Over the past year, Nicole was actively involved in finalizing settlements with Massey Energy Company ($265 million), Fannie Mae ($170 million), and Hewlett-Packard Company ($57 million), among others. Nicole previously served as of counsel at the Firm.
- Of Counsel Carol C. Villegas prosecutes complex securities fraud cases on behalf of institutional investors. She is actively involved in prosecuting Hatamian v. Advanced Micro Devices, Inc., In re Vocera Communications, Inc. Securities Litigation, and In re ViroPharma Inc. Securities Litigation. Last year, Carol was instrumental in obtaining a recovery for investors in The City of Providence v. Aeropostale, Inc. She is a member of the Executive Council for the New York State Bar Association's Committee on Women in the Law. Carol was formerly an associate at the Firm.
