SEC May Exceed Legal Authority, Lawyers Say

Jordan A. Thomas comments on how the new whistleblower program has allowed SEC investigations to be more targeted.
"With the new whistleblower program, the SEC has many more insiders assisting with investigations so they can be more targeted and efficient," Jordan Thomas, who was an SEC lawyer before joining Labaton Sucharow, where he represents whistleblowers. "Before that, they were starting from the ground up looking for misconduct. When you do that you really need to cover the waterfront."
