Labaton Sucharow LLP Announces that Jay L. Himes Has Been Elected Chair of New York State Bar Association's Antitrust Law Section
NEW YORK (January 27, 2011)—Labaton Sucharow LLP announced today that Jay L. Himes has been elected chair of the 530-member Antitrust Law Section of the New York State Bar Association. His selection was made at the group's annual meeting today.
Mr. Himes co-chairs the Firm's antitrust practice group. He concentrates his practice on representing plaintiffs in price-fixing class action cases, and on protecting businesses from anticompetitive activities. Prior to joining Labaton Sucharow, he served for nearly eight years as the antitrust bureau chief in the New York Attorney General's office. He previously practiced complex litigation for 25 years at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP.
A nine-year member of the State Bar, Mr. Himes most recently served as vice-chair of the Antitrust Law Section. He also co-chairs the Commercial and Federal Litigation Section's antitrust committee, and is a member of that Section's executive committee.
Mr. Himes is a frequent lecturer and author on antitrust and class actions. He also is a member of antitrust, litigation, and intellectual property groups in the New York City Bar Association and the American Bar Association. Mr. Himes further serves on the advisory boards of the BNA Antitrust & Trade Regulation Reporter and of the Antitrust Chronicle.
Mr. Himes earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin, and received his law degree from the University of Wisconsin Law School, magna cum laude.
