Four Attorneys Promoted at Labaton Sucharow 

NEW YORK (December 13, 2017) – Labaton Sucharow LLP announced today the promotion of Marisa N. DeMato and Christine M. Fox to partner as well as Francis P. McConville and Robin A. van der Meulen to of counsel, effective January 1, 2018. DeMato and Fox were previously of counsel, and McConville and van der Meulen were associates at the Firm.

Partner Marisa N. DeMato advises leading pension funds and other institutional investors in the United States and Canada on issues related to corporate fraud in the U.S. securities markets. A member of the Firm’s Client Development Group and with more than 12 years of experience, her work focuses on complex securities class actions, advising institutional investors on monitoring their investments, and counseling clients on best practices in the corporate governance of publicly traded companies. DeMato also advises municipalities and health plans on issues related to U.S. antitrust law and potential violations. Recently, DeMato helped reach a $90 million derivative settlement and historic corporate governance changes with Twenty-First Century Fox, Inc., regarding allegations surrounding workplace harassment incidents at Fox News.

Partner Christine M. Fox has more than a decade of securities litigation experience prosecuting complex securities fraud cases on behalf of institutional investors. Fox played a pivotal role in securing favorable settlements for investors in class actions against Barrick Gold Corporation, one of the largest gold mining companies in the world ($140 million recovery); CVS Caremark, one of the nation’s largest pharmacy benefit managers ($48 million recovery); Nu Skin Enterprises, a multilevel marketing company ($47 million recovery); and Genworth Financial, Inc. ($20 million recovery). Fox is actively involved in several matters pursuing recoveries for injured investors, including In re Conn’s, Inc. Securities Litigation; Hall v. Rent-A-Center, Inc.; and In re Intuitive Surgical Securities Litigation

Of counsel in the Firm’s Securities Litigation Practice, Francis P. McConville plays a key role in the Firm’s Case Development Group, which focuses on identifying, investigating, and developing potential actions to recover investment losses resulting from violations of the federal securities laws and various actions to vindicate shareholder rights in response to corporate and fiduciary misconduct. McConville was instrumental in securing leadership positions on behalf of the Firm’s institutional clients in the following securities class actions: Oklahoma Firefighters Pension and Retirement System v. Xerox Corporation; In re Aaron’s, Inc. Securities Litigation; and Murphy v. Precision Castparts Corp

A member of the Firm’s Antitrust and Competition Litigation Practice, of counsel Robin A. van der Meulen represents businesses and public pension funds in complex antitrust class actions. She is currently working on some of the largest price-fixing and benchmark manipulation cases against major dealer bankers, including In re Foreign Exchange Benchmark Rates Antitrust Litigation, Alaska Electrical Pension Fund et al v. Bank of America Corporation (ISDAfix), and In re Treasury Securities Auction Antitrust Litigation. She is also taking on big pharma in In re Generic Pharmaceuticals Pricing Antirust Litigation, a massive case alleging price-fixing and anticompetitive conspiracies against some of the biggest drug companies in the world. Van der Meulen is also a member of the Executive Committee of the Antitrust Law Section of the New York State Bar Association and the Advisory Board of the Antitrust Section's Health Care and Pharmaceutical Committee of the American Bar Association.
