Edward Labaton and Lawrence Sucharow highlighted in alma mater’s publication
Firm Chairman Lawrence Sucharow and partner Edward Labaton were recently profiled by their shared college alumni magazine in an article detailing their rise from undergrads to becoming name partners at the Firm. Labaton (Baruch ’52) and Sucharow (Baruch ’71) discussed their different paths that both began with a dislike of accounting and propelled them into exploring the law.
According to Labaton, “It’s ironic that neither of us particularly liked accounting, but much of our litigation has required us to get quite knowledgeable in that area…It all worked out, and neither of us would be here if not for the affordable and high-quality start we got at Baruch.”
While Labaton took the law aptitude test, went on to law school, and joined the army, Sucharow’s desire to work as a professional led him to work on Wall Street by day while attending law school by night. Both attorneys credit Baruch’s solid education as having given them a solid foundation for their future careers in the law.
